Hey all,

I just got my first Colt.. looking for some tips and parts! It is a 79 wagon that needs some TLC. What are some good sites and resources to use to find parts?

Thanks,

Mike,

Welcome to the forum.
Based on what I've read about that wagon and its owner, your Colt adventure is off to a great start.
I'm intrigued that your first Colt turned out to be one of the rarest variants and one in such excellent condition.

Most of the mechanical parts will be fairly easy to find on Rock Auto, car-part.com, eBay, etc.
Body and trim parts will be quite difficult.
I gather from your PM that you are in central Iowa.
Please feel free to email me at any of the addresses on my website.

Greg

So, 2 weeks ago I flew down to Phoenix and drove back to Iowa in a couple days. The car has been in Arizona it’s entire life. It needed a lot of help in the inside and leaked some oil. I have added LATCH system for the car seats and tossed in new front seats as well. We don’t have much planned for the wagon, maybe a working radio and small things here and there. It will mainly be our cruiser to go to triathlon races. My girlfriend and I dig it and have already had a couple offers to sell it, but we are going to keep it. It is too much fun! We also cruise in our 61 Falcon and enjoy other oddball cars. I’ve always had a weakness for wagons!!

Hey hey! There's where my twin ended up! Glad you joined up on here and is staying within the community. Here's mine over in the PNW side of the country.

Lol i bet. The interior on that looks about the same as mine, I need some new front seats and seat belts as the belts don't retract too well. The body on mine is fairly straight, no rear bumper is mounted at this time and the paint is decent mostly. Right now I have some ignition/spark issues I need to diagnose when I have time.

It's probably been ten years since I've seen any 1971-1983 Mitsubishi on the road in my metropolitan area of 400,000.
May 26, 2018 I met Mike and his 1980 Dodge Colt station wagon.
I am no longer the sole carrier of the banner in central Iowa.

It was great to meet Mike, tell some of my Mitsu tales and look at his Colt wagon.
I halfway kiddingly told him thanks for driving the car from Phoenix to Iowa for me! He saved me a hell of a drive.
Among the topics we discussed was his solution to weak hatch struts:

This picture mostly captures my personalized plate.
Mike's wagon has a very clever personalized plate not legible in my photos.
That's Mike's tale to tell.
